AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She is also captain of San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of professional women's soccer. From 2018 until 2020, she co-captained the US women's national soccer team along with Megan Rappinoe. [8][98][9] Morgan was drafted by the Western New York Flash at the number one spot in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had graduated from Berkeley early. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. Morgan made her debut as a professional with the club and assisted the team win the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time and was one of the youngest players on the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. In the 2012 London Olympics she scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final game against Canada. She ended 2012 with 21 goals, 28 goals, and 28 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score both 20 and 20 goals. It made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to score 20 goals in a single season. The following year, she was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year , and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
